Dubai-headquartered Stanford said it had secured a three-year contract for the 87 m, DP2 Stanford Bateleur to Mexiship in Mexico and the vessel would undergo “some specific modifications” before undertaking the contract.

The end user Mexican state oil and gas firm Pemex will use the Stanford Bateleur as an injection vessel out of the port of Dos Bocas, in the state of Tabasco.

“This represents a significant upping of the stakes in our operations in Mexico and moves us in a direction we are keen to continue,” said Darren Reeves gm of Stanford. “Mexiship will be a solid partner for us and provide assistance with local logistical support; we look forward to working with them.”

Smaller sister vessel the Stanford Goshawk has been operating Mexico for 12 months.

The Stanford Bateleur was delivered in 2013 from a Chinese yard and has been on charter to Halliburton in Malaysia and Maersk Oil in Qatar.
