Transfers by European owners help ClassNK to 220m gt mark
Transfers of vessels from other classification societies have helped ClassNK pass the 220m gt mark on its register.
ClassNK has added 10m gt of new tonnage to its register over the last 12 months having hit the 210m gt level in November 2012.
The Japanese class society's aggressive marketing efforts in Europe continue to bear fruit with 30% of 9m gt in tonnage added to the register this year coming from transfers from other class societies. ClassNK said Greek, Turkish, Norwegian and German owners accounted for 50% of the tonnage transferred to the Japanese class society.
“The continued organic growth of our register is a result of our hard work and dedication to provide ever better services and reflects the expansion of our service in Europe and around the world,” said Noburu Ueda, chairman and president of ClassNK.
