China’s shipbuilding output for the first four months was 12.81m dwt, an increase of 16.6%. As at the end of April, the orderbook on hand was 84.19m dwt, an increased of 4.5%, according to the statistics released by China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
Shipbuilding export volume was 12.07m dwt, an increase of 19.5% year-on-year, newly received export shipbuilding orders were 24.69m dwt, up 177%. Export orders on hand were 74.84m dwt as the end of April, a slight increase of 0.2%.
Shipbuilding export volume, new orders for export and export orders on hand accounted for 94.2%, 88.6% and 88.9% of national volume, respectively.
The 75 major Chinese shipyards posted a total revenue of RMB72.3bn ($11.3bn), a growth of 10.4% year-on-year.
As at end of April, China’s shipbuilding output, newly received orders and orders on hand accounted for 41.1%, 53.3% and 46.8% respectively of the global shipbuilding market share.
