DSIC clinches order for up to two shuttle tankers

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has secured a contract for the construction of up to two 155,000-dwt shuttle tankers.

The contract is made up of one firm order plus one option. The deal is the first suezmax shuttle tanker order placed by a Chinese shipowner.

Shanghai Beihai Shipping, a joint venture between China Cosco Shipping, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Sinochem Group and HongKong Silverbond Overseas, will be the owner of the tankers.

The vessel will be in around 279 metres in length, 48 metres in width and 23.7 metres in depth.

Upon the delivery, the vessel will be deployed in Brazil’s offshore oilfield project developed by CNOOC.
