GSI wins order for eight tankers from Hengyi Petrochemical

CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has inked a contract for eight 49,600dwt chemical/product oil tankers with domestic company Hengyi Petrochemical.

The newly inked shipbuilding contract brings the total orderbook value of GSI to in excess of CNY10bn ($1.5bn) year to date.

The tanker, in 183 metres length, 32 metres width and 11 metres depth, developed by GSI, is an upgrade version of main ship type constructed by the shipyard.

Hengyi Petrochemical has ordered from GSI, and it is the largest tanker order the yard has received in recent years. CDB Leasing will provide financial services to the newbuilds deal.

GSI has received orders for 21 merchant vessels so far this year.
