Hudong-Zhonghua to build China’s first membrane-type LNG storage tank

CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding announced that the shipyard has secured a contract for the construction project of China’s first membrane-type land LNG storage tank.

China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation North China Company, as the general EPC contractor of the project, inked agreements with CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, Shanghai Harvest Insulation Engineering, Shenyang Industrial Installation Engineering, and GTT.

The five parties will jointly complete the construction of China’s first 29,000 cu m membrane-type land LNG storage tank, which will be a significant innovation for domestic energy project, and will be a milestone for China’s LNG storage equipment sector.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, is a leader in LNG storage and transportation equipment construction, and is the only shipyard in China can build No.96-type and Mark-Ⅲ type membrane LNG tank simultaneously.

As a pioneer in land membrane-type LNG storage tank, China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation North China Company will be engaged in large size membrane-type LNG tank technology promotion in China via this project, and accelerate the localization process of the technology and materials, said China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation North China Company.

The LNG project, developed by Huagang Gas, located at Hebei province in north China, is expected to be completed in September 2021.
