South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Group is aiming to secure $15.9bn worth of new order deals for 2020.

The $15.9bn target, which is unchanged from last year’s goal, will come from the combined orders from the group’s three shipbuilding units including Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).

HHI itself is aiming to bag $8bn worth of deals this year, while HMD and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries are aiming for $3.65bn and $4.25bn respectively.

Last year the group won orders worth $12bn to build 135 vessels, achieving 76% of its annual target of $15.9bn.

During the last week of 2019, HMD and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries clinched deals worth $293m in total to build six vessels, including four 1,800-teu feeder boxships and two VLCCs.
