Jiangnan Shipyard delivers 23,000 teu LNG-powered boxship to CMA CGM

CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard has delivered the LNG dual fuel 23,000 teu container ship CMA CGM Champs Elysees to its owner CMA CGM.

The CMA CGM Champ Elysees is the second in a series of nine 23,000 teu LNG powered containerships newbuilds for the French company.

The vessel, 399.9 meters long and 61.3 meters wide, is independently designed by the No.708 Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), is the world’s largest dual fuel container ship.

The 18,600 cu m MARK III LNG tank on the ship is capable of supporting the vessel sailing between Asia and Europe.

Last year, CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered CMA CGM Jacques Saaded, the first of nine 23,000 teu mega-containerships that CMA CGM ordered at CSSC in 2017.

The remaining vessels will be delivered gradually by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and Jiangnan Shipyard.
