EMAC sees uptick in cases, breakfast seminars make a return
Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre (EMAC) says it has seen an increase in cases since the start of the year as its breakfast seminars make a welcome return.
The Breakfast with EMAC series has made its return in physical format with a topical discussion on charter party disputes and enforcement.
HFW partners Richard Strub and Yaman Al Hawamdeh shared with the audience lessons about charter party disputes in shipping that have arisen in recent months and how to navigate the options available for settlement.
“I believe that EMAC will continue to provide a worthy platform for the maritime community to learn from each other,” said Majid bin Bashir, Chairman and Secretary General of EMAC.
“Litigation and arbitration are not at the forefront of business development, but a part of life, and it is important that parties know that they have reliable resources and facilities available to them in the UAE, when disputes arise”, he added.
Underscoring the importance of understanding the current litigation landscape EMAC said it had seen a rise in cases this year.
The breakfast event was held in collaboration with Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
