Viking Supply Ships has entered into a $120m contract for the charter of four Anchor Handling Tugs to “a major oil company”.

The four AHTS vessels involved in the deal include 2010-built Loke Viking, 2011-built Magne Viking , 2012-built Brage Viki and 2000-built Balder Viking, which vary between 202 - 225 tonnes bollard pull . The contract applies to the 2014 and 2015 drilling seasons, which are expected to begin in April/May each year. The contract also includes options for 2016 and 2017. The identity of the oil company was not disclosed.

The contract brings Viking Supply Ships’ order backlog to NOK2.84bn (approx. $483m) including options, which represents an increase of NOK1.67bn since the beginning of 2013. With the recent contract the AHTS fleet has an estimated contract coverage including charterer options of 62% for 2014 and 57% for 2015.
