ASRY begins work on Bahrain Coast Guard landing craft

A keel-laying event was recently attended by the yard’s Chairman Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Al Khalifa, ceo Nils Kristian Berge and BCG Brigadier Ala Seyadi.

The craft, due for delivery in 2016H1, is ASRY's first newbuild contract since launching its New Construction and Engineering division, which will carry out new construction work for the yard.

“Over 50% of steel cutting [has] already completed, and steel panel assembly [is] well underway,” said ASRY New Construction and Engineering Senior Manager, Sauvir Sarkar.

The two-engine vessel will be 34.5 m in length, will have a top speed of 10 knots and cargo deck capacity of 40 tonnes.

ASRY said it had already built offshore support vessels, ASD tugs and power barges, and boasts a 500,000 dwt drydock, two floating docks of 252 m and 227 m in length, 15 repair berths, twin 255 m slipways, as well as a range of workshops and service centres.
