Celsius Shipping has exercised two options and newly inked a further four optional LNG carriers with China Merchants Industry.

Measuring in 298.8 metres length and 48 metres width, the series of 180,000 cu m LNG carriers is the first large size LNG carrier order placed at China Merchants Industry. The vessel design is jointly developed by Deltamarin and Haimen base of China Merchants Industry.

“Building the large-size LNG carrier is the upgrading of China Merchants Industry’s traditional shipbuilding business, and another move to develop new-energy market,” according to China Merchants Industry.

At the end of December 2022, China Merchants Industry and Celsius entered into shipbuilding contract for 4+2+2 LNG carriers.
