COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation builds six VLCCs

COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation to build six 307,000dwt VLCCs as a part of COSCO Shipping Group’s massive fleet optimisation plan.

The company has inked shipbuilding contract via its subsidiary COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation (Hainan) for the six VLCCs with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry at a total cost of RMB5748m.

As the end of June 2024, COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation operates a tanker fleet of 154 vessels with a total capacity of 22.43m dwt.

Since August this year, COSCO Shipping Group has invested around RMB47.3bn in seventy-two newbuildings, including asphalt carriers, containerships, bulk carriers, LNG carriers and the newly ordered VLCCs.
