Cosco shipyard and Sevan Drilling agree to further extend delivery of rig

Cosco (Qidong) Offshore and Sevan Drilling have agreed to a fourth extension over the delivery of a newbuild drilling rig named the Sevan Developer.

“The board wishes to announce that the rigowner and Cosco Qidong intend to extend the deferral period to 30 June 2017 to allow the parties to continue negotiations,” said Cosco Shipping International (Singapore) Co, parent of the Qidong shipyard.

The delivery of Sevan Developer was last extended for six months until 15 April 2017. The rig was originally due for delivery back in April 2014.
