In the first month of 2022, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) inked 32 vessel newbuilding orders, an increase of 146.5% year on year.

Shipbuilding units of CSSC hav signed ship construction contracts for 32 vessels in January, totaling in 2.86m dwt. Among which, the middle and high-end vessel types account for 87% of the total order volume, including LNG carriers, VLGC, VLEC and large sized dual-fuel containerships. 

Almost 70% of the newbuild orders come from developed countries. 

The three major Shanghai-based shipbuilding companies of CSSC, Jiangnan Shipyard, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding bagged 18 vessel orders and delivered nine vessels in January.

In the first month, CSSC delivered 18 vessels, 2.326m dwt in all. Among which, 67% were high valued-added and high-tech vessels.

Up to now, CSSC’s orders on hand are 586 vessels totaled 41.24m dwt.
