Diana bags Glencore charter, $18m in acquisition finance

Diana Shipping has secured a charter with Glencore for its ice class panamax bulker Crystalia, which is currently under construction, with estimated minimum gross revenues of $8.5m.

The 18 to 21 month charter is set at $15,800 gross per day and due to start upon the 77,525 dwt vessel's delivery in mid-February.

The Greek dry bulk owner also announced an $18m loan with Commonwealth Bank of Australia, with the proceeds going towards the acquisition costs for panamaxes Melite and Aertmis, which were delivered to Diana in January 2010 and August 2013 respectively.

Last week, Diana Shipping ordered a kamsarmax from Yangzhou Dayang for $28.8m.
