Ferus Smit wins newbuilding orders for Symphony Shipping

Dutch-based shipyard Ferus Smit has won an order to build six general cargo vessels for Singapore-based Symphony Shipping.

The new ships will be delivered from the shipbuilder's Leer yard March 2015. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The newbuildings will be based on Ferus Smit's Ecobox design, characterised by the flexibility of loading combined with economical and ecological performance.

Ferus Smit added that the Ecobox vessels will be equipped with large loading floor area for project cargoes including movable tweendeck, two cargo cranes, propeller with a duct to reduce the maximum installed propulsion power, and bulbless canoe type bow for optimum speed at various drafts.
