The $208m unit is due for delivery in the second quarter of 2015 and joins Perisai Pacific 101 in the yard's orderbook. The rig ordered by Perisai in May 2012 is currently under construction at the yard with a delivery date in Q2 2014. The rigs are both based on PPL Shipyard's own proprietary Pacific Class 400 design with similar specifications for water depths of 400ft and a drilling depth of 30,000ft.
Douglas Tan, managing director at PPL Shipyard commented "We are very pleased that Perisai has chosen to order the second Pacific Class jack-up rig with us. This repeat order is a reflection of the optimism that the owner has in the jack-up rig market. It is also an endorsement of our design and our ability to deliver on schedule and within budget."
Izzet Ishak, managing director of Perisai added "We are delighted to have PPL Shipyard as the builder of our second jack-up rig unit. We are pleased with the progress of Perisai Pacific 101."
