Jiangnan Shipyard bags order for two VLECs

CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard inked contracts for two 98,000 cu m very large ethane carriers (VLECs) with Bocom Leasing Management Hong Kong and SPDB Financial Leasing.

The two vessels will be chartered for the leasing contract between Pacific Gas, the gas shipping subsidiary of Shandong Marine Group, and Ineos.

The VLEC design features the Type B Cargo Containment System “BrilliancE” developed by Jiangnan Shipyard, which is designed make the vessel to be efficient and more environmentally friendly.

Estimated to be delivered before the fourth quarter of 2021, the VLECs will be deployed for transporting ethane from the US to Ineos’s new ethane gas cracking facility in Antwerp.
