Jining Energy Development Group has signed a letter of intent with CSSC China Shipbuilding Trading (Shanghai) for the construction of LNG-powered containerships and bulk carriers with capacity in the range of 1,000-2,000 dwt.

The letter of intent also includes the construction of a LNG-powered tugboat.

The latest agreement will see CSSC China Shipbuilding Trading (Shanghai) and Jining Energy further cooperate on designing and constructing vessels fuelled by new energy, according to Zhang Guangyu, general manager of Jining Energy.

Jining Energy is looking to develop an LNG-powered fleet for use in river transportation.
