K Line orders LNG newbuildings at Hudong-Zhonghua for Petronas charter

Japanese shipowner K Line has inked a long-term time charter contract of 12 years plus 12 years from 2022 with Petronas LNG.

K Line has also executed the shipbuilding contracts for two 79,960 cu m LNG carriers with China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.

These two vessels will be equipped with the dual-fuel X-DF engines.

These are the first long-term time charter contracts between Malaysian state oil and gas firm Petronas and K Line with newbulding vessels, the Japanese shipowner said.

These two vessels are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2022, and will be deployed for the transportation of LNG from Malaysia (Bintulu) to China’s energy industry player Shenergy (Group).
