The agreement between Seatrium Letourneau USA, Inc. (SLET) and Cochin Shipyard is targeted at demand from the Indian market.

Seatrium said it aims to capitalise opportunities for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) specifically designed to meet the needs of the Indian market.

Seatrium, formed out of a merger of Sembcorp Marine and Keppel Offshore and Marine last year, was the world’s largest builder of jack-up rigs but is refocusing its business on offshore assets for the renewable energy business.

The last decade has seen no new orders for jack-up rigs resulting in a supply crunch.

“This collaboration represents a significant milestone in Seatrium’s commitment to advancing India’s offshore energy industry with innovative, reliable, and efficient solutions,” Seatrium.
