Seatrium wins carbon capture and storage retrofitsSeatrium wins carbon capture and storage retrofits
Singapore shipyard group Seatrium has secured SGD100 million ($76 million) worth of repair and upgrade projects across a variety of vessel types.
Seatrium has added a second carbon capture and storage (CCS) retrofit with Mitsui OSK Lines for the vessel Nexus Victoria, which is scheduled for December this year. It is the second CCS retrofit the yard group has won in 2024 with the first Solvang’s ethylene carrier, Clipper Eris which is scheduled for November this year.
CCS retrofits are increasingly being seen as option by shipowners to meet stricter emissions requirements for existing vessels.
“With a strong focus on maritime decarbonisation, Seatrium is well-positioned to provide customers with a range of low-carbon and cleaner energy solutions to support a sustainable future in the maritime industry,” the shipyard group said.
On the repair front Seatrium is conducting scheduled maintenance on two tankers including one tanker from Crowley Alaska Tanker and also said it had a “significant contract” for steel renewal works on a vessel that was damaged in a collision and is currently under repair.
It is undertaking repairs on two LPG carriers, three container ships, and a ro-ro vessel. It also secured contracts for repairs on three LNG carriers and steelwork for a floating dock.
In the offshore sector Seatrium has secured three contracts including one jack-up rig from COSL Protector Pte Ltd and one pipelay vessel from McDermott.
The projects are scheduled to be completed by Q1 2025.
