Yangzijiang Shipbuilding bags first LPG carrier order

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has won its first LPG carrier order placed by German owner Hartmann Reederei.

The order for three 49,000 cu m LPG/ammonia carriers signifies a breakthrough for the shipyard in the clean energy vessels sector, which will be built and delivered by Yangzi- Mitsui Shipbuilding, a joint venture of Yangzijiang and Mitsui.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery before 2024.

Ren Letian, CEO of the group, said “Yangzijiang’s clinching of its maiden batch of 40,000 cu m LPG carriers marks a breakthrough for the group and a recognition towards the group’s strengths in the design and building of clean- energy vessels. I am pleased to see Yangzijiang record another milestone in the clean-energy space”.

With this latest order wins, year-to-date in 2021, Yangzijiang has secured new orders for 89 vessels worth $4.72bn.
