Zhejiang Xiehai Group orders up to four bulkers at Xinzhou Shipbuilding

Zhejiang Xiehai Group has inked shipbuilding a contract with Zhejiang Xinzhou Shipbuilding for the construction of two plus two 45,700 dwt bulk carriers.

The total contract value is RMB400m ($57.6m). The bulk carriers will be classed by China Classification Society and will be deployed in the domestic market from 2021.

“The vessels have the advantages of low fuel consumption and construction cost, which are suitable for both river and sea transportation,” said Wang An, chairman of Xiehai Group.

The two parties had worked on the construction of two 7,500 dwt bulk carriers in 2019.

Xiehai Group, based in Linhai, Zhejiang province, focuses on domestic coastal and river shipping, ship management and leasing business.
