ICTSI-Contecon in Ecuador’s Guayaquil has shipped the world's first carbon-neutral certified land and port logistics container.

Contecon-Guayaquil became the first terminal in the Americas to comply with ISO 14064 in its operations with the application of environmental care principles and the use of clean technologies, aimed at protecting the environment.

Exporters can now certify their land and port logistics to achieve greater competitiveness in the most demanding markets in terms of compliance with regulations and to satisfy consumer demand for products from sustainable processes.

The first container with this certification belongs to Tropical Fruit, one of the Ecuadorian banana exporters.

This container was transported by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to France, where it will be commercialised by the Societe Internationale D'Importation (SIIM).
