Martin Ackermann is stepping down as ceo of BW LPG after five years at the helm of the shipowner.

Ackermann is stepping down from the Oslo-listed firm, part of Singapore-headquartered BW Group, for family reasons.

"It has been a privilege to lead BW LPG through some challenging years and to see it continue as a strong platform for the futue,” he said.

Anders Onarheim, a non-executive director of BW LPG since 2013, will be taking over as interim ceo of BW LPG.

Andreas Sohmen-Pao, BW LPG chairman, said: "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Martin for his contributions over the past five years, which spanned an entire LPG shipping cycle and included the acquisition of another company and the development of new business.  We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
