AET orders $500m worth of newbuilds at Korean yards

MISC tanker arm AET has swooped for eight newbuildings worth $500m at South Korean yards.

AET has inked orders for four 113,000 dwt aframaxes at Samsung Heavy Industries in 2018, and two 114,00 dwt LR2s and a pair of 158,000 dwt suezmaxes at Hyundai Heavy Industries for delivery in 2017.

AET said the two LR2s were destined for long- term time charters AET has a with an undisclosed oil major and to be delivered in 2017. The other six are replacement tonnage.
