AET shuttle tanker for charter to Shell 25 -30% more fuel efficient

The 153,180-dwt DP2 Eagle Pilar, purpose-built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), is approximately 25-30% more fuel efficient than similar vessels built in the early part of the last decade.

The Eagle Pilar is in full compliance with IMO NOx Tier 3 and SOx emission requirements, and installed with a ballast water treatment system, electrical driven cargo pumps for enhanced fuel efficiency, high-power thrusters, and position reference system capable for operating in harsh weather conditions.

The ship will operate in the Brazilian Basin.

“Today’s [6 January] delivery of Eagle Pilar marks our first DP2 shuttle tanker to operate on long term charter to Shell completing an agreement we reached two years ago,” said Capt. Rajalingam Subramanian, president and ceo of AET.

Following the delivery of Eagle Pilar, AET has another six DP2 shuttle tankers to be delivered in 2021 and 2022, of which three are for Shell.

The Eagle Pilar is expected to be handed over to Shell later this month, joining AET’s six other DP2 shuttle tankers in the Brazilian Basin already operating there for Petrobras.

Globally, AET has 11 DP2 shuttle tankers, including Eagle Pilar, with seven in the Brazilian Basin and four in the North and Norwegian Sea.
