The deal includes one VLCC newbuild and the option for a second VLCC newbuild to be confirmed in the coming two months, costing $112.2m each. The first vessel is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2026.
The order is part of expansion plans by NYSE/Euronext-listed Euronav.
Measuring in 339.5 metres long and 60 metres wide, the VLCC will meet the latest requirement of TIRE III and the Phase III of EEDI. To achieve zero-carbon target on the whole sailing, the vessel will be able to equip two 6,000 cu m methanol fuel tanks.
“The order will significantly improve Beihai Shipbuilding’s influence in global large-size tanker construction market and bring more tanker projects to the yard,” commented Beihai Shipbuilding.
