Chengxi Shipyard lands first ever order for chemical tankers

CSSC Chengxi Shipyard has bagged its first ever deal to build chemical tankers with an order made by Sweden’s Ektank for four 18,600 dwt units.

The subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC), which builds mainly bulk carriers, said the maiden order for chemical tankers points to the yard’s progression on constructing higher value ships.

The first of the four new chemical tankers is scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2018. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
