China Merchants Energy Shipping orders LNG carriers and Aframaxes at DSIC

China Merchants Energy Shipping has placed orders at CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) for the construction of two large size LNG carriers and two crude oil tankers.

The 175,000 cu m LNG carrier pair is in 299.7 meters long and 46 meters wide. EEDI indexes of the vessels are 50% lower than the baseline, which can significantly improve the vessel’s economic efficiency and ecological benefits. 

Two 115,000 dwt Aframax crude oil tankers are  designed by DSIC, measuring in 243 metres long and 44 metres wide, will be able to carry 800,000 barrels crude oil. 

Signing of the contract demonstrates a powerful collaboration between state-owned enterprises in oil and gas energy transportation, which will provide a stable guarantee for national energy industry, said CSSC China Shipbuilding Trading.
