The medium range (MR) tankers CMC Antillanca and CMC Ancud were acquired at a price of $42.5m each.

CMC is the former CCNI and Chile’s second largest shipping line. Agunsa, Chile’s biggest logistics company, port owner and operator Port Cabo Froward, and CMC form the holding group Grupo de Empresas Navieras (GEN), owned by the Urenda shipping family.

”We are embarking on a new adventure with the arrival of the CMC Ancud MR tanker and the CMC Antillanca to our fleet. We are ready to take our expertise and excellence to new destinations," said CMC.

"One of these impressive vessels is already on its way to Singapore for its next assignment, marking a milestone in our international growth. While this represents great growth for us, our experience in Chile will continue to develop and strengthen with our partners and collaborators”.

The new CMC tankers and GEN vessels were purchased from Scorpio Tankers for a total amount of $85m. Both of the scrubber-equipped, 50,000 dwt vessels were built in 2014 and are 183 m-long and 32 m-wide.

In 2017, CMC acquired two other vessels from Scorpio Tankers at a value of $28.2m each with similar characteristics to the CMC Antillanca and CMC Ancud.
