Dryships completes sale of six aframaxes to Economou

Dryships has sold its fleet of six aframax tankers to companies owned by its chairman and ceo George Economou.

The company announced the possible sale of the six vessels for $245m at the end of March, when it sold four suezmax tankers to companies belonging to Economou.

The six tankers - Belmar, Calida, Alicante, Mareta, Saga and Daytona - were originally planned to be listed as a separate company Tankships along with the four suezmax tankers
