Maltby will replace the current chairman Chris Buttery who will remain involved as a director of the Singapore-headquarter company.

“Epic occupies a strategic position in global gas shipping and has the platform, capitalisation and operational expertise to further benefit from ongoing secular growth in the industry,” Maltby said.

Maltby has over 20 years of international shipping industry experience, most recently as managing director of Pacific Basin (UK) Ltd where he built and led the global handymax business and managed all dry bulk operations in the Atlantic region.

Prior to Pacific Basin, Maltby held various positions within BHP Billiton’s dry bulk and tanker freight businesses.

He started his career with Mobil Shipping Company (now ExxonMobil) where he was responsible for execution of LPG and petrochemical chartering.

Lars Vang Christensen, ceo of Epic Gas, commented: “Charles is an outstanding leaders in the maritime sector. I look forward to working with Charles and the rest of the board to continue building upon Epic’s success.”
