The Chinese shipyard will build the CNG carrier for China’s gas systems company CIMC Enric SJZ Gas and the vessel will be operated by Indonesia’s Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN), Jiangsu Hantong announced on its website.

Earlier in July this year, PT PLN has ordered another 2,200 cu m CNG carrier at Qingdao Wuchuan Heavy Industry in China, contesting Jiangsu Hantong’s claim that its order is the first.

Both the shipbuilding contracts at Jiangsu Hantong and Qingdao Wuchuan specified the vessel delivery to be in May 2016. Both newbuildings will also be dual-classed by ABS and Indonesia’s Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI).

Jiangsu Hantong said the specification of its CNG carrier will be 110 metres long with a speed of 14 knots, similar to the contract for Qingdao Wuchuan.
