MISC grows LNG fleet with two newbuilds from SHI

Two new LNG carriers built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) are joining MISC’s fleet for charters to ExxonMobil.

The 174,000 cu m Seri Damai and Seri Daya once delivered by SHI will be managed by MISC ship management arm Eaglestar Shipmanagement, and chartered ExxonMobil subsidiary SeaRiver Maritime.

Capt Rajalingam Subramaniam, MISC’s President & Group Chief Executive Officer, said, “The delivery of Seri Damai and Seri Daya today, marks a strong start to the year and a significant milestone in MISC’s partnership with SeaRiver Maritime. The new LNG carriers have enhanced cargo tank insulation with the GTT Mark-III Flex PLUS cargo containment system and are powered by WinGD X-DF propulsion.

The new vessels will add to MISC’s existing fleet of 31 LNG carriers, six very large ethane carriers (VLECs) and two LNG Floating Storage Units (FSUs),
