New leadership at Intertanko
Tanker shipping representative body Intertanko has elected a new Chairman and appointed a new Managing Director from the start of 2025.
Rolf Westfal-Larsen Jr was elected as the new Chairman of Intertanko at a meeting of Council members recently. He takes over the reins from Paolo d’Amico who is stepping down after serving the maximum term of six years.
Outgoing chairman d’Amico said: “With Rolf, we have a Chairman who will continue to represent what Intertanko stands for; quality, future-focused, independent tanker owners and operators.”
Westfal-Larsen Jr. has been serving as Vice Chairman of Intertanko and is the Chief Executive Officer of Westfal-Larsen Management AS, a global family-run shipping company based in Bergen, Norway.
“It is an honour to be elected as Chair of such a respected organisation, and I look forward to playing a part in leading the industry through this period of transition,” he said.
Meanwhile Katherina Stanzel is stepping down as Managing Director of Intertanko after 12 years in the role having taken up the post in 2012.
She will be succeeded by current Deputy Managing Director Tim Wilkins from 1 January 2025 with Stanzel remaining with the organisation during a transition period.
Commenting on her time as Managing Director she said, “It has been an absolute privilege to work with and serve the interests of Intertanko’s Members worldwide and develop, guide and direct the fantastic team of professionals we have in the Secretariat today.”
Wilkins has worked with Intertanko for over 25 years and currently serves as Deputy Managing Director and Environment Director.
“My focus will be on shaping a sustainable future for the tanker industry by supporting Members through the decarbonisation transition, safeguarding the future of our seafarers and actively addressing the complex geopolitical challenges we face,” Wilkins said.
