Current BW Group ceo Andreas Sohmen-Pao will move to the BW Group board when 17-year Norden veteran Mortensen takes his place as Group ceo.

"Carsten is an outstanding leader in the maritime sector and is an ideal candidate to lead BW into the next phase of growth. We warmly welcome Carsten to the team," commented Sohmen-Pao.

Norden managed to cut its full year loss in 2013, although its first quarter results in 2014 forecast difficult times.

"It is with regret that we have received Carsten Mortensen’s resignation," the company stated in a press release.

Mortensen oversaw a strategy of "growth in challenging times" over the past few years at Norden, focussing on positioning the company for growth in a future market recovery.

BW Group has recently expanded its operations in the LPG, LNG and product tanker sectors.
