NYK has inked a fourth long-term charter for an LNG carrier with France’s EDF Group.

The contract signed by France LNG Shipping, a 50-50 joint venture by NYK and Geogas LNG SAS, with EDF LNG Shipping SAS is for a 174,000 cu m newbuilding due to be delivered in 2025.

The vessel is being built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and will feature a WinGD-manufactured, dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine.

It is NYK’s fourth long-term contract with EDF for an LNG carrier.

NYK Executive Officer Hironobu Watanabe said, “We are very pleased to have signed another long-term charter contract for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with EDF LNG Shipping SAS. This conclusion is of great significance for further promoting the NYK Group's ESG management.

We will continue to provide EDF with stable LNG transportation services under our strong partnership, contributing to energy transitions around the world,” he added.
