Chile-based SAAM Towage has joined the Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO).

SIGTTO provides for an exchange of technical information and experience, between members of the industry, to enhance the safety and operational reliability of gas tankers and terminals.

“Safety plays a key role in SAAM Towage's strategy, which is why we trust that joining this organisation is a step forward for us in re-inforcing this core value at our operations. It will also enable us to share our work in this area with other industry players. In this spirit, this is an important milestone for us that will also strengthen our presence in an industry where we want to stand out,” commented the company’s Managing Director, Hernan Gomez.

“Today SAAM Towage has one single entity covering all of the Americas. We operate 180 tugs at more than 80 ports in 13 countries in the Americas, so joining SIGGTO will generate value for our services. We also hope to contribute our experience,” added Gomez.

Founded 42 years ago and numbering more than 170 members, SIGGTO brings together the industry's leading players around the world. The society has observer status at the International Maritime Organisation, which has recognised its role as the authoritative voice on operating and safety issues due to its reputation and integrity.
