The two new vessels, will be constructed at DSIC’s production base in Tianjin, and are scheduled to be delivered during the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028.

With the addition of the new order, Seatankers has ordered eight VLCCs from DISC, which will be equipped with desulphurization devices.

Newbuilding orders for tankers, especially VLCCs, have seen an upturn this year as markets have continued to remain strong, and far more of these orders have gone to Chinese yards than they have in the past.

DSIC is a leading Chinese yard for VLCC construction market and has delivered 117 VLCCs to both domestic and foreign clients. The shipyard currently holds 15% VLCC newbuilding orders on hand among global market.
