Potter takes over from Chevron Shipping Company President Mark Ross who has completed his four-year term as OCIMF Chairman.
“I am honoured to be working with OCIMF members to advance our priorities,” said Potter.
“First and foremost, we must continue to focus on the safety and care of the people that work in this important industry whilst also ensuring no harm to the environment. The roll out of SIRE 2.0, further strengthening links across industry and the ongoing work to embed the strategy will be the focus of 2022.”
ICOMF’s Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE) is a widely-used tool for tanker risk assessment including a database of thousands of vessel inspection reports. An enhanced version, SIRE 2.0, is due for release in the second quarter of this year.
Ross said: “It has been an honour to serve as OCIMF Chairman for the past four years, and I believe that Nick Potter will be an excellent fit for the role.”
