Singapore Maritime Week 2016 kicks-off
Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2016 officially kicked-off on Sunday afternoon, with over 30 events set to take place in the Lion City over the coming days.
The opening was held at the SMW 2016 exhibition entitled “Our Maritime Singapore Stories. SMW 2016 is themed “Positioning for future growth”.
Speaking at the opening, Khaw Boon Wan, Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport said: “Amidst the global downturn in the shipping industry, SMW 2016 offers a platform for the industry to jointly address the challenges. If we work together, we can better overcome the problems.
“This year’s SMW has also targeted the public, with various outreach events. They will get to know more about Singapore’s maritime sector and the many career opportunities it offers.”
Events in the week include the Singapore Maritime Lecture on Monday with Kristian Siem, chairman of Siem Industries, as keynote speaker and the Sea Asia Offshore Marine Forum on Tuesday.
The Seatrade Maritime News team will be reporting live from SMW 2016 with a dedicated news page.
