December 3, 2024
As the 2025 Commodore, Clough will join a prestigious list of individuals who have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the international maritime industry, including 2024 Commodore, Michael D. Tusiani of Poten & Partners.
The presentation of the 2025 Commodore Award, and the traditional commodore’s hat, will take place at CMA Shipping 2025 at the Hilton Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. The award and speeches at the Gala Dinner on Thursday, 3rd April 2025 will be the culmination of a milestone three-day event as CMA Shipping celebrates its 40th anniversary.
President of the Connecticut Maritime Association, John Lindquist, said that the CMA Board is delighted with this year’s decision and that Clough is a worthy recipient. “Todd stands out for his significant career achievements at Fairfield. From its founding to its acquisition by MOL Chemical Tankers, Todd has helped to create and grow the company into an industry leader. Deservedly, he will now join an elite group of leaders who have been honored in the past as Commodores. We are delighted to have him join this illustrious circle and celebrate his successes at this year’s gala and conference.”
Prior to his career in shipping, Clough spent eight years in international operations at a US-based regional bank. During this time, he held positions in FX trading, global money transfer, and letters of credit. He was ultimately promoted to manage the group. International banking and trade experiences piqued Todd's curiosity about the shipping industry and he welcomed the opportunity to help Fairfield Maxwell Ltd. in 1996 when they combined with two experienced chemical tanker chartering executives to form Fairfield Chemical Carriers.
Under the guidance and leadership of its founding partners, Todd learned about the chemical tanker shipping sector from the bottom up, all the while acting as the Company's top financial officer. After the Company was acquired by MOL Chemical Tankers in 2024, Todd retained the CEO and President roles at Fairfield and joined the MOL Chemical Tankers Board of Directors.
Over the course of his career at Fairfield, from its founding to its acquisition by MOL Chemical Tankers, Todd helped to create and grow the Company into an industry leader. From a small trading unit in 1996 with four vintage 16,000 dwt coated product vessels on short term charter, a single office in Connecticut with five staff, Fairfield has become a respected industry leader operating 40 owned and chartered fully stainless-steel chemical tankers from five offices around the globe staffed by more than 60 shoreside professionals.
In 2022, under Todd's leadership, Fairfield took the bold step to help design and order four Dual Fuel LNG propelled 26,000 dwt chemical tanker vessels with 26 fully stainless-steel cargo tanks. Three of the four vessels, the first high specification vessels of their kind designed for global trading, were delivered into service during 2024. The last of these ground-breaking next generation chemical tanker vessels will be delivered in April 2025.
The illustrious line-up of former CMA Commodores include: Gary Vogel, Ole Skaarup, Jacob Stolt-Nielsen, George Livanos, Phil Loree, Thomas Moran, Gregory Hadjieleftheriadis, Dr. Helmut Sohmen, Gerhard Kurz, William O’Neil, Richard du Moulin, Per Heidenreich, Marc Saverys, Frank Tsao, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Peter Georgiopoulos, C.
