As part of the evaluation of options in October, a preliminary call for tenders was conducted which, due to the amount and level of the received preliminary and indicative offers, suggested that proceeding with a sale was the best possible option for Cargotec and Navis.
Cargotec aims to complete the sales process during the first half of 2021.
Navis is a global provider of software solutions and services to port and terminal operators, ocean carriers, ship owners and inland logistics operators.
In 2019, the software business acquired the cloud-based Octopi terminal operating system (TOS) for small container and mixed cargo terminals.
Earlier this month, Navis also launched its N4 TOS as a cloud-based service to allow its customers to seamlessly move terminal operations to the cloud. The N4 SaaS aims to provide customers a complete package as terminals of all sizes begin to explore the potential of cloud-based solutions and plan to move their TOS to the cloud.
In order to find the best options to support Navis’s future development, Cargotec has evaluated other strategic alternatives for the business.
