DNV’s ShipManager IT servers have been shut down in response to a recent cyber attack.

DNV said its ShipManager software was the victim of a cyber attack on January 7, and that it has since shut down ShipManager servers.

With the servers down, users are unable to use the online functionality of ShipManager, but offline services remain accessible.

“At the moment all onboard, offline functionalities of the ShipManager software can be used.  Users are not able to synchronize data with onshore offices which makes for example maintenance more time-consuming,” DNV told Seatrade Maritime News.

The class society said it was working with global IT security partners to investigate the incident and put together a technical recovery plan. Dialogue is also underway with the Norwegian police about the attack.

DNV has opened a 24/7 support hotline for affected customers, and will ensure operations are back online as soon as possible, it said.
