UAE’s Elcome International, provider of maritime systems, has established its first service center in Europe in Spain.

Based in Sevilla in Spain, the new Elcome service center will offer shipboard navigation and communication systems, satellite connectivity solutions and coastal surveillance solutions backed by a team of engineers and technicians.

Dubai-based Elcome will also provide the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) annual radio surveys, annual testing of the Automatic Identification System (AIS), annual performance tests of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR), gyrocompass overhauls, repairs, installations and other services onboard and at ports in Europe and North Africa.

“A presence in Europe will enable us to provide service for the first time from a location in the Mediterranean and will strongly reinforce our position as a reliable solutions and service provider with a global presence,” said Jimmy Grewal, executive director of Elcome.

“The Spanish base will serve as a springboard to expand our service footprint to major ports in Europe, West Africa, the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar. The shipping industry has been central to our success over the past 50 years, and our clients include some of the largest tanker operators and container carriers in the world with active fleet service agreements with us. Our new European office will enable us to extend the scope of annual maintenance agreements into Europe backed by our strong global reputation,” he added.

The new Sevilla office adds to Elcome’s existing network of 21 sales and service offices stretching from Gibraltar to Singapore.

“From our new base in Sevilla, we are well positioned with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive package of bridge solutions, installation, commissioning and shipboard services for our clients in the EU region,” said Francisco Rufo, head of the Spanish office.
