CMA CGM Kaohsiung terminal starts operations
CMA CGM has started terminal operations in Kaohsiung port following a 20-year extension of the lease for the facility.
CMA CGM Kaohsiung Terminal started operations on 1 September at the 1.3m teu annual capacity, 101-acre terminal in the Taiwan’s largest port.
The terminal was previously leased by CMA CGM-owned APL with a lease that stretched to end 2027, this lease has now been renewed with CMA CGM by Taiwan International Ports Corp for a 20-year period. CMA CGM has retired the APL brand for all but its US-flagged fleet.
Sam Chou, General Manager of CMA CGM Kaohsiung Terminal said, “Our renewed terminal lease that runs till 2040 is currently the longest contractual commitment made by a foreign entity in Kaohsiung Port.
“The Kaohsiung port sits at the crossroads of maritime transport connections between the Americas, Asia and Australia, making it an important transhipment hub for cargoes that we move to and from these continents and within Asia. More than just a station for port stops by carriers, our terminal also specialises in handling goods that require customized and reefer solutions.”
Each week, the CMA CGM Kaohsiung terminal receives 17 regular services including those of CMA CGM, CNC and ANL.
