Finnish crane manufacturer Konecranes has completed the acquisition of two Peinemann subsidiaries Peinemann Port Services and Peinemann Container Handling. The deal was agreed in October and has now received the all clear from Dutch competition authorities.

Peinemann is a major port services supplier in the Netherlands, with a large client base and long-term maintenance agreements with several of Konecranes’ important customers.

Peinemann Container Handling has been a Konecranes Lift Trucks distributor in the Netherlands since 2009, and has been in the sales, rental and service business of lift trucks in the Rotterdam area since 1954.

Paolo Dazi, senior vice president of Konecranes Port Services, said: “The acquisition of Peinemann’s Port Services and Container Handling businesses will expand our footprint and increase our service presence in Europe’s largest port, where we already have strong customer relationships and a significant fleet of both automated and manual equipment."

“This agreement gives us the chance to further expand our services and equipment offering in the Netherlands and, with the new sales channels the Peinemann businesses will bring, accelerate our plans to transition to battery-powered electric vehicles in a critical market,“ added Konecranes senior vice president Lift Trucks Andreas Falk.

The group's rental fleet now includes 6,210 units including All Terrain and mobile tower cranes, loader cranes and crawler cranes up to 600 tonnes, as well as aerial work platforms, telehandlers, boom lifts and forklifts with over 1,200 employees.

The acquisition will have no effect on Konecranes’ existing Lift Trucks distribution business outside of the Netherlands.
